Asset Forfeiture Funds Investments

The initiatives that District Attorney Vance is funding with $808 million asset forfeiture funds so far include:

  • Expansion of borough-wide youth violence prevention program
  • $38 million to help eliminate the backlog of untested rape kits nationwide
  • $90 million to enhance NYPD mobility, including providing tablets and handheld devices for every police officer and patrol car
  • $40 million toward New York City’s comprehensive mental health initiatives
  • $13.8 million toward the supervised release of qualifying defendants awaiting trial, helping to cut unnecessary pretrial detention and reduce reliance on cash bail
  • $101 million for NYCHA security upgrades, including cameras, lighting and keyless access
  • $3 million to establish the Institute for Innovation in Prosecution at John Jay College
  • Up to $25 million to establish the Global Cyber Alliance
